Lil Anne -
I am a lady Bloodhound people call Lil Anne. Like most of us with image issues, it didn't happen overnight, and yes, I do have a great personality. This is my story and the last chapter (it'll be the best ever) has not yet been written, but my friend Karena will help you write it for our book. We're going to call it "The Journey of Lil Anne" and it starts like this...
Lil Anne was a joyful puppy in a litter of baby Bloodhounds who wrestled and played with one another and their mother. They dreamed wonderful dreams of who their people would be and what wonderful dogs they would become. Drago was going to become the best tracker ever, Amanda was going to work with children, each had a dream and the potential to achieve their dream -- we all are born with that.
Lil Anne was no different. She dreamed of being a special dog for a special person who needed her gentle and unquestioning love. One by one the puppies grew and toddled off with new owners to meet their new lives.
Lil Anne dreamed her dreams of the person who would be her lady and the adventures they would have. Soon enough the baby Lil Anne toddled with her lady to her new life and an exciting new home. She was loved by her lady and learned quickly. She was a gentle dog who gave her lady unquestioning love and did her best to be a credit to her breed. The little Bloodhound could sniff with the best of them -- truly she was a credit to her breed. The gentle Lil Anne knew she loved her lady, and she believed her lady loved her too. She went everywhere with her lady and slept next to her bed every night. Life was very good and Lil Anne was growing into a beautiful, devoted companion to her lady and her lady was the center of Lil Anne's life.
Then one day, Lil Anne's lady met a man who became her lady's husband. Mr. Man thought there should be no dogs in the house. Ever. Lady had been raised not to question the actions of Man, and so she acquiesced to Mr Man's demands and sent poor Lil Anne out of the house.
Of course, Lil Anne had no idea why she was suddenly unwelcome in the home, and she didn't understand why her lady no longer laughed or played with her. She was not abused as such -- no one beat her or denied her shelter, and she had all the food she wanted. In fact, the food was the only attention her Lady gave her, and the salt.
Lil Anne tasted in her food was from her Lady's tears. The more Lil Anne ate, the more food her Lady gave her. Lil Anne wanted to please her Lady so she ate everything she was given. The cycle continued and now 'Lil Anne was obese. Then Mr. Man decided they should move to a place where no animals were allowed and that’s how she ended up at Blue Lion.
Lil Anne needs a break. Today she is loved and treated with dignity, but she needs her own person to feed her soul and to help her to again believe in things like love and forever:
• Lil Anne needs a home with someone to love her as much as Lil Anne wants her own person she can love .... and that's a lot of love just waiting for someone. Unquestioning love. Sadly Lil Anne has already known loss and we have promised her that she isn't going to be thrown away again.
• Lil Anne needs a home with someone who will help her get the gradual and regular exercise she needs to again be the gentle giant that she was. 'Lil Anne needs a patient person who understands the journey of life and isn't going to fail her.
• Lil Anne needs a home with enough love to help her understand that food is not love, but that love does help feed us. It's not a quick lesson to learn, and some of us never quite grasp the concept.
• Lil Anne needs a buddy to walk with her and believe in her. She truly needs to walk away the loneliness, the disappointment and the loss she has experienced, and she needs love to salve her soul.
Lil Anne is the sweetest dog ever and loves humans; she is fine with the other dogs she has been introduced to, but we have not yet introduced her to cats. Given her current girth, it is unlikely she could catch a cat. 'Lil Anne does not need any more loss or disappointment. We all know they are a part of life, but they have been an enormous part of her life, and it is now time for her to get the sunshine and happiness she deserves.
Lil Anne is a beautiful soul with a spirit that endures. She is great on a leash, HW negative, spayed and current on vaccinations. Lil Anne is super affectionate but not sloppy sweet. She would love to be on your lap getting hugs and getting kisses ... but that's quite a few pounds from being a possibility. Lil Anne is unlike most Bloodhounds in that she is quiet. She was born (we think) 7/29/11 and (no surprise on this one), she doesn't like thunder, fireworks or gunfire. Go figure
Lil Anne would like to have a final chapter written where she finds her forever home and is loved by a family who would NEVER give her up.
